ROAD TRIP TO TOBERMORY |

We LOVE road trips! So, we decided to take the four hour trip to Tobermory, ON this long weekend! We decided it would just be a day trip... I know! We are crazy to drive a total of 8 hours just to be there for a few hours. But, we love our spontaneous adventures and we decided this week that our next destination would be Tobermory to check out the crystal clear water (very rare in Ontario). Plus, we had the puppies to come back to and we couldn't get a cottage last minute!

The whole family went ( 7 of us), which made it guaranteed fun! On the way there it involved lots of Tim Hortons and 90's throwbacks. Sam and I jammed out the entire way there to oldies! Mialyna definitely was embarrassed and thought we were super uncool #momlife.. but eventually we got her to dance! After many "Are we there yets?", two trips to Tim Hortons, and lots of embrassing dance moves and singing we finally arrived!

We really wanted to see the Grotto and maybe go for a swim, but with our luck and the long weekend it was completely full! The winds were also too strong for boats to go out, which limited our other options! But, we did make our way up to the visitor center where the look outs and trails are located... and it was absolutely GORGEOUS! We climbed the look out tower, which was somewhat scary with our fear of heights and the wind had it shaking back and forth! But hey, it was worth it with a beautiful view of the tree tops and the water. After building up the courage to walk down, we went on a little hike! I advise anyone going to start in closed toe shoes and gym attire (something we did not do, oops)! You definitely want to be comfy! After this we headed to the Little Dunks Bay lookout and it was breathtaking. The water was crystal clear and the most beautiful shade of blue! It felt like we were somewhere tropical minus the 18 degree weather we had! We actually sneaked down off the pier to the shore and we got to dip our feet in the water and relax on some rocks! It was super relaxing and made the four hour trip up there worth it!

Next - we were hungry... of course! So, we headed into Tobermory and wanted to go on hunt for a good place to eat! We ended up going to Shipwreck as per recommendation from a local! It was a cute little place that offered All- You- Can- Eat Fish & Chips and Chicken and Ribs for those who aren't seafood lovers! The food was delicious (everyone loved their poutine and everything they ordered! ), and the service was even better! Super quick and everyone was super friendly! We will def be going back and I recommend it to everyone!

After dinner, we ended up walking along the harbor to check out the little shops! We picked up some yummy candies for the way back home from the Sweet Shop, which is a cute little Ice Cream & Candy store they had. We also decided to share some BeaverTails to fulfill our sweet tooth! It was yummy, and a great way to end off a cheat day! You should def stop by both of those if you have a craving something sweet on your trip!

To end the night, we stopped by one of the other beaches, Singing Sands! But, it was not something I recommend as there was a ton of bugs, the water was stinky ( probably from the rain we had earlier this week), and the scenery wasn't as nice as the other places we explored.

We ended up getting back just before midnight and took a dunk in the hot tub to relax before heading to bed! Overall, it was a great trip and we will be heading back to check out the Grotto and the boat cruise to Flower Pot Island next time!

Be sure to check out the pictures from our little day trip below!

I hope you all had a great long weekend (If you are off)! I'm off to enjoy the last little bit of my day off by cleaning the house, snuggling with my babies, and hitting the hot tub!

I'd love to hear what you guys did this long weekend or for you to share some road trip essentials with me in the comments... mine are Tim Hortons, good music, and fresh fruit!

Until next time,

Alysia xo
